Synchronizing passes information (sometimes sensitive) over a wire.
My client, the U.S. Government, will be sync'n over a VPN tunnel to the main
SQL Server database from various field office locations across the country.
My question is: can the sync operation (bulk load/transactions passed) be
encrypted, irrespective of any hardware/network method, by SQL Server during
the process? Any thoughts are appreciated..
Normally when you use a VPN the communication is encrypted enough. For a
greater level of encryption, you can configure your server using Server
Network Utility to force protocol encryption.
