Please Help a mySQL newbie!

I've sucessfully installed Apache with 1.3.29-win32-x86-no_src.
I've installed mySQL(3.23.58) but, to quote my textbook:

"Before the mySQL database server can be started the configuration
file C:\MySQL\my-example.cnf must be copied to the root directory at
C:\ and renamed to mycnf.cnf. The options set in this file are read by
MySQL whenever it is started."

The trouble is there ain't no my-example.cnf file...
Please help me somebody!john@.jprecious.freeserve.co.uk (jonrp) wrote in message news:<c3451fb8.0402170543.3186dcfd@.posting.google.com>...

This is a Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) newsgroup - you will probably
get a better response in a MySQL group.

You dont really need to be concerned with the .cnf file.
Once you installed mysql binary simply go to the c:\mysql\bin and run
winmysqladmin.exe.

That will start the mysql server and you can setup a user id and password for it.

I take it you are running mysql on windows platform.

Hope this help.
